Arches National Park, in eastern Utah near Moab, has more than 2,000 natural stone arches, set in desert landscapes. Delicate Arch, set against the backdrop of the La Sal Mountains has become a symbol of Utah. The hike to Delicate Arch is a moderately strenuous 3-mile round-trip. Other notable arches include Landscape Arch, one of the longest natural arches in the world, and Double Arch, with its two large openings. The Windows Section, features multiple arches near each other. The Devils Garden area has a challenging 7.2-mile loop trail that takes hikers past eight arches, including the impressive Double O Arch. The Park Avenue trail is an easier scenic 2-mile walk through towering sandstone formations reminiscent of a city skyline.
Balanced Rock, a massive rock perched precariously on a smaller base. Wolfe's Ranch is a one room cabin in the park that was home to cattle rancher and his family who settled on the land.
Moab is also a hub for outdoor enthusiasts, providing easy access to numerous activities including hiking, slick rock mountain biking, rock climbing, river rafting, and off-road driving. However, the town is most known for mountain biking. The region boasts an extensive network of trails that cater to all skill levels. The Bar M Trails, located just north of Moab, is great for novice riders to experienced bikers. The trail system includes loops of varying lengths, with scenic views of the surrounding desert and rock formations.
Klondike Bluffs, another premier mountain biking area, features a mix of slickrock, dirt trails, and technical sections. The Klondike Bluffs trail is an 18-mile round-trip ride that takes bikers through views of Arches National Park and the La Sal Mountains. This trail system is well-marked and offers a variety of loops and connections, making it easy for riders to customize their route based on skill level and distance. Bike rentals and guided tours are readily available in Moab for those who don't bring their own equipment.
