Visitors to The Art Institute Chicago, the USA’s second largest art museum are greeted by their famous iconic lions. Inside art lovers engage in the one million square feet of work. The collection spans thousands of years but stands out for its impressive collection of impressionist and post-impressionist work. The museum acquired their collection as many now reputable artists were building their careers which resulted in many smart purchases over time. Some include Hopper’s Nighthawks, Wood’s American Gothic, Van Gogh’s The Bedroom, Monet’s Water Lilies, Seurat’s A Sunday afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, Georgia O’Keeffe’s Cow’s Skull with Calico Roses, and Chagall's America Windows. The furniture design collection, spans many centuries and highlights the transformation of style, construction and materials. Enjoy a quick tour of some favorites.
