It's main attraction, Old Man's Cave, looks like a cabin etched in rock with a doorway and windows. The cave is the source of a ghost story of two boys in the early 1900's who were playing in the canyon and witnessed an apparition of a trapper and his dog. Frightened, they sprinted home and told the townsfolk who returned with pitchforks. All they found was…. We won’t ruin the surprise. You will find out on your visit.

Nearby is the John Glenn Astronomy Park a project supported by the Friends of Hocking Hills State Park to educate and foster an appreciation of the sky's celestial bodies. Stop by compass shaped plaza that positions visitors with the movements of the cosmos. At night look at the stars, and in the daytime look at representations of the Sun, Moon, and North Star. Be sure to attend one of their public programs where you can learn even more.
